Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits debuts on OTT: ‘She’s a national treasure for comedy’ say netizens
Comedy comes in many forms -- slapstick, subtle, and now with Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits it has made its debut as a documentary. The first episode is up today on OTT, in which Alex Borstein performs a music-infused stand-up special from The Wolford Theatre.
Anne Brodie of What She Said gave it an outstanding 4/4 review. Here’s what she said of Alex Borstein: “She’d make hardened sailors blush, and her parents are right there in the front row -- ballsy. (Borstein) does Broadway really well. Time flies by and before you know it, this memorable whimsical, brilliant, earthy show is over.”
It’s been up only a few hours and already the show has been getting some superb reviews. A user tweeted just a couple of hours ago, saying, “I… am enjoying it now! Early? And I have learned a new sign language. Love Love Love”
The channel it is streaming on is confident that it’s going to do well. It show description asks you to “Step right up for a musical comedy special that’s deeply personal and wildly fictitious…a one-woman circus.” Moreover, it is fun, even if you may think the humour is sometimes too cocky or too rumbustious to be proper.
The comments on the trailer up on YouTube are further proof of that. Baxatak Baxatak calls Alex a “national treasure,” while another commentator, Greg Morris describes her as “F****** amazing talent”.
The talented comedic 52-year-old actor has won three Primetime Emmy awards and stars as Susie Myerson in the acclaimed The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. She also lends her voice to Lois Griffin in the animated comedy series, Family Guy.
Tune in to OTT tonight for some outright laughs and enjoy her one-liners – all while she has her parents sitting near the stage watching her show. “Did you want a daughter like that?” she asks them over and over again!
