'A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms' fan war with 'Breaking Bad' sees Bryan Cranston lose IMDb record after 13 years

'A Kinght of The Seven Kingdoms' is set to wrap up its epic run on television this weekend after scoring its series' highest rating with Episode 5's 'In the Name of the Mother'. While at first, early critics' reviews gave the Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell starrer a perfect 10/10 rating, the audience reviews saw the episode settle for a 9.8 score.

'Breaking Bad' loses its record

Now, in a rare shake-up, ‘Ozymandias’, widely regarded as one of television’s greatest episodes, from the hit series 'Breaking Bad', had remained the only episode on IMDb to maintain a perfect 10/10 score for over a decade. However, this week, its rating dipped to 9.9/10 for the first time.

The new number one spot is now occupied by the series finale of ‘Six Feet Under’, also rated 9.9, with ‘BoJack Horseman’ and ‘Vinland Saga’ following closely behind.

Did a fan war cause rating drop?

Although there is no official confirmation, speculation is rife that sudden drop in ratings may be the result of a review-bombing from fans, deliberately lowering the ratings of the 'Game Of Thrones' prequel so that 'Ozymandias' remains as the only show with the perfect score.

This is believed to have prompted 'GOT' fans to downvote the 'Breaking Bad' episode, thus ending its 13-year record.

'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' confirms Season 2

Ahead of the season finale, HBO renewed 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' for the second season. The show serves as a prequel to 'Game of Thrones' and is set roughly 100 years before the events of the mothership show. It is based on George RR Martin's "Tales of Dunk and Egg" novellas which follow the adventures of hedge knight Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall and his squire Egg.
