ROTORUA : It can be looked at any which way but lose. For, at the end of the spectacular and simply sizzling Rally of Rotorua here on Sunday, the acronym of India''s Team MRF could stand for Team Making Rapid Forays in the intense and intricate institution of rallying.
The recent investment in a foreign driver has paid off rich dividends. And let''s make no mistake here.
Motorsport is not all about nationalism but more about driver against driver, machine matching machine and, quite simply, the fierce determination to conquer whatever nature has to throw.
For, Team MRF''s latest acquisiting, New Zealand-born Australian expat, Stewart Warren, sporting the crimson red colours of the Indian motorsport team, came through the final leg of the Parker-Enzed rally in style. Not only did the Perth resident come out trumps in the group ‘N'' category, but he also finished a creditable second to the redoubtable, Karamjit Singh, in the third round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championships.
Never mind that he finished an overall seventh in the final standings of this event. But, the fact of the matter is that Warren, with co-driver Darryl Judd, did not go in for any heroics on the third and final leg which comprised six special stages.
