An agitated camel bit off the head of its owner in Bikaner’s Panchu on Monday evening, police said. Police said relatives of the deceased and villagers then tied the angry camel to a tree and killed it by beating it up with sticks. Manoj Yadav, SHO of Panchu police station, said the camel was tied to a post near the village. The camel was apparently agitated seeing another camel pass by and, after breaking free from its rope, it went berserk, Yadav said. When its owner, one Sohanram Nayak, went after it to calm it down and tie it back to its post, the violent animal lifted him by the neck and threw him on to the ground; it then chewed up his head, the SHO said. A video of locals beating the animal to the death also went viral on social media after the incident.
