A shocking incident unfolded near Nirsa Cinema Mod in Dhanbad district when a branch of a local bank allegedly held a woman captive on Friday afternoon for failing to deposit loan installments. News of the incident spread, prompting concerned individuals and media personnel to gather at the branch. The woman, identified as Sabita Kisku, was eventually released in the presence of the crowd. According to employees of the branch, Sabita Kisku had been granted a loan of INR 31,870 on April 26, 2023, with a weekly installment of INR 500. Despite several attempts to contact her regarding the unpaid installments, she remained unresponsive. Field officer Anjali Kumari, who had facilitated the loan, initiated an investigation and discovered that Sabita Kisku had gone to her in-laws' place. On Friday, Sabita Kisku was brought to the branch on a scooter. As soon as the news reached the public and media, a gathering assembled at the branch. The branch staff denied any involvement in the woman's captivity, and she was released at 7 p.m. Amit Kumar Gupta, the branch manager, stated that no detainment had taken place and that Sabita Kisku had been summoned for a discussion regarding the non-payment of installments. However, she had not been answering her phone. The incident has raised questions about the actions of the branch and the treatment of borrowers in financial institutions.
