A group of animal right activists created noisy ruckus on the campus of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, accusing authorities concerned for not taking care of dogs of Atiq Ahmed.Volunteers of Raksha, an NGO working for animal rights and welfare of pets, arrived at the office of additional municipal commissioner and asserted that the condition of two of Atiq’s dog had deteriorated while another had gone missing.Volunteers alleged that PMC authorities had given custody of three of Atiq Ahmed’s dogs to a local breeder in March and they were keeping them in Asrawal village but not caring for the pets. Volunteers also claimed they were demanding for the custody of all the three dogs since long but PMC authorities did not show any interest.In March, two of Atiq’s two dogs died due to alleged starvation at his ancestral Prayagraj home two days after his family, which lived in another house nearby and cared for the pets, went untraceable.
