He was born in Karachi before the Partition. Director Govind Nihalani may not have many memories of his birthplace, but he says, Karachi reminded him of fear and blood - the reason, he says, Partition as a subject intrigued him. Nihalani, who was in Delhi recently for the Habitat Film Festival and opened the festival by paying a tribute to Om Puri -the lead actor of his film 'Tamas'.
