Watch: Pune municipal corporation collects Rs 5 lakhs fine from road contractors for potholes

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collected Rs5lakh fine from road contractors for poor quality of work. Action has been taken against road contractors who have built roads in Katraj from near Nancy Colony to Padmja park areas, Kalubai temple in Dhayari, Parvati Paytha, PMC school areas in Mohammadwadi and Sus-Mhanlunge Road, said officials. According to PMC officials, even if the contract term mentions the fine, the exact amount and plan of action is not defined in the contracts. “The civic administration will continue to take action against contractors. Inspection of roads across civic areas is underway,” said V G Kulkarni, head of the PMC’s road department.
