US on high alert as National Weather Service issues winter storm warning for East Coast states

The U.S. is on high alert as weather alerts are issued in anticipation of a winter storm set to impact the East Coast. Winter storm warnings have been declared by the National Weather Service (NWS) in states such as New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The NWS's Friday warning highlighted the potential for heavy snow and severe ice spanning from Maryland to Maine. The NWS emphasizes increasing confidence in heavy snowfall from Saturday afternoon into Sunday for the interior Mid-Atlantic and New England regions.
