'They wanted to burn us alive': Woman cop's first-hand account of Haldwani horror amid Uttarakhand violence

A resilient female police officer, a survivor of violence, recounts the chaos faced by the police in Uttarakhand. She details how an unruly mob threw stones at the police team and attempted to set the house, where they were hiding, on fire. Recalling the harrowing experience, the cop mentions the mob's intent to burn them alive. Numerous videos depict the police being cornered by an angry mob. Haldwani's District Magistrate clarified that the police did not provoke or harm anyone. The clashes in Haldwani resulted in two deaths and over 100 injuries after authorities demolished an illegal madrasa and mosque.
