Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata. was a Hindu philosopher, spiritualist who went on to become chief disciple of his guru Ramakrishna. Since his early years he was inclined towards spirituality. In his honor the day is observed as National Youth day. Also remembered as the patriotic saint, he is known for introducing Vedanta and Yoga to the western world. Vivekananda is especially remembered for his soul-stirring speech made in Chicago in 1893. His address made him popular as a messenger of Indian wisdom to the west. Vivekananda addressed the Parliament of the World’s Religions .
