Sirisha Bandla: Meet the woman making history as the 2nd Indian-American woman in space

Sirisha Bandla is going to be the 2nd Indian-American woman to travel into space after Kalpana Chawla. The 34-yr-old aeronautical engineer will join Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity to fly into space on July 11. She will be taking care of the researcher’s experience on the 6-member crew. Born in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, her grandfather says she was always fascinated with the sky. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering in 2011 from Purdue University and her MBA from George Washington University in 2015. Joining Virgin Galactic after her studies, she is currently the Vice President of Government Affairs.
