Shree Jagannatha Society organised Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in United Kingdom for the first time in London's Southall on July 1. Devotees from across the UK participated in the rituals and ceremonial procession. The deities were throned and adorned with new clothes, flowers and jewellery after. Chandan yatra. The idols of the deities were carried to their newly constructed chariots. Pahandi Yatra was followed by Chhera Pahanra ritual, a ceremonial sweeping of the chariot. The devotees pulled the chariots and chanted 'Hari Bolo' and also sang and danced along the way. Delicious prasad was distributed to all the devotees towards the culmination of the yatra. Bahuda Yatra Celebrations will be held at Shri Ram Mandir in Southall on July 9 between 12 – 5 PM. SJS UK has not limited the celebration to London. The foundation has also set up stalls to provide free prasad and water to the needy at Gundicha Mandir in Puri, Odisha. The principal goal of SJS UK is to construct Shree Jagannath Mandir in London to spread the culture across Europe.
