Karnataka CM Race Update: Suspense continues as DK Shivakumar arrived at his brother residence
The suspense continues over the Karnataka Chief Minister race as Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar arrived at his brother and party MP DK Suresh's residence in Delhi. Sources suggest that senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah is likely to be the next Karnataka Chief Minister, while DK Shivakumar will be offered the role of Deputy Chief Minister. Shivakumar is also expected to receive significant portfolios in the state Cabinet. Siddaramaiah's swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to take place on Thursday, following a meeting of all 135 Congress MLAs. Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar separately met with party President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. According to Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, the new Chief Minister will be sworn in within 24 hours, with the new state Cabinet formed in 48-72 hours. The Congress secured a convincing victory in the Karnataka Assembly election, winning 135 out of 224 seats, toppling the BJP from power. The BJP secured 66 seats, while the JD(S) managed only 19 seats. Now, the challenge lies in appointing the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.
