Preparations for the 77th Independence Day started across the country including Surat. The textile industry in Surat has received a big order for Independence Day 2023. Textile industry has received orders to make and supply more than one crore national flags. The tricolours will be made of polyester satin cloth, which look shiny and has longer durability. The entire work from -weaving to printing, cutting and stitching- will be done in Surat. The Laxmipati Group has received orders to make 50 lakh Tirangas, revealed MD Sanjay Sarawagi. Many traders in Surat have received big Tiranga orders for the Independence Day and Textile units in Surat are working hard to deliver the order on time. Majority of the orders are for tricolours of 20*30 inch size. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ called for continuing 'Har Ghar Tiranga' tradition and urged people to hoist tricolour at home to mark Independence Day. In 2022, Surat Textile Industries received orders to make over 2 crore Tirangas.
