How Turkey quake halted illegal journeys from Gujarat to US

The Turkey earthquake disrupted illegal journeys to the US from Gujarat. The February earthquake in Turkey had an adverse effect on human smuggling. Turkey is a transit point for illegal journeys to the US. Many would-be immigrants are now stranded in Turkiye. This is according to sources in Gujarat Police and central agencies. On Thursday, a Gandhinagar man was deported from Istanbul to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi after he was found to be travelling on a fake visa and passport. Accused, 19-year-old Prit Patel of Paliyad village in Gandhinagar district, did not manage to meet the agent at Istanbul airport who was to help him board a flight to Mexico. He was caught by security agencies and deported to India.
