Jodhpur flooded after heavy rains, residents brace for more showers
200mm of rainfall was recorded in Jodhpur in 24 hours, wreaking havoc across the city. Waterlogging had flooded the city and brought life to a standstill. Reportedly, five people including four children died due to the rains. Railway stations, market places, government offices and hospitals were inundated. Trains were cancelled as water entered waiting rooms, platforms and tracks. Waist-deep water level swamped market places and sabzi mandis, destroying the livelihoods of many. The district collector announced closure of all schools in view of the situation. The administration has been directed to deploy workers to drain water and take measure to bring the situation under control.
