ISRO has strengthened the legs of Vikram, the lander on Chandrayaan-3 that will land on the lunar surface as part of the mission as corrections were carried out after the failure of Chandrayaan-2. Having found that it could have been designed to withstand higher velocity during Chandrayaan-3, Isro has now addressed the velocity tolerance issue on Vikram and increased the landing velocity to 3m/sec from 2m/sec. That means even at 3m/sec, the lander will not crash or break its legs. Also, unlike in Chandrayaan-2, Vikram will use a minimum of two engines in the last phase as opposed to one.
