Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate a 125-feet statue of Dr BR Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary on April 14. During the inauguration in Hyderabad, flowers will be showered on Ambedkar's statue from a helicopter. Ambedkar's grandson Prakash Ambedkar will be invited as the chief guest during the programme. BR Ambedkar's statue has been installed on 11 acres of land. Renowned sculptor and architect Padma awardee Ram V Sutar and his son Anil Sutar have designed his statue. The project, launched in 2016, is expected to cost around Rs 146 crore. The stone used for the statue was sourced from Agra, Noida and Jaipur. About 155 steel and 110 tonnes of bronze have been used to make the statue. Along with the Buddha statue at Telangana Martyrs' Memorial and Hussain Sagar, now Ambedkar's statue will also be a center of attraction for tourists.
