Bhima Mandavi was killed while returning from campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in April 2019 at Shyamgiri when Naxals triggered an IED blast, blowing up his vehicle and leaving Mandavi dead on the spot, along with three police personnel and the driver. "I would like to ask each party leader, does my father's sacrifice of life hold no value?" asked a distraught daughter of the slain BJP legislator Bhima Mandavi, who was killed in a Maoist attack in Dantewada during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. This inquiry comes after the BJP recently announced 85 of its candidates for the upcoming assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.In a video released, Deepa, the late BJP leader’s daughter, expressed her pain that the saffron party didn't acknowledge her father’s sacrifice and contribution to the party. She felt that it had gone to waste, as her mother wasn't given preference in ticket distribution.In its second list of 64 candidates, the BJP named Chaitram Arami as its candidate to contest the Dantewada (ST) seat, which was won by Mandavi in the 2018 polls.After his death, the BJP had fielded Mandavi’s wife, Ojaswi, against Congress’ Devti Karma in the byelection, but she lost.
