Girls at the Mohali campus made allegations that a student of Chandigarh University recorded and shared 'objectionable videos' shot while students were bathing. The allegation that the videos she shared with her boyfriend included up to 60 videos saw massive protests on campus... since late on Saturday night. University authorities on Sunday claimed that no objectionable video was made of the girl students except a personal video shot by a girl, which she shared with her boyfriend. Other girls claim they saw her recording while she was in the washroom and panicked, thinking she was shooting their videos. If a girl and boy are sharing videos and not making them public, it isn’t a crime according to law, according to cops.By the time police and university officials issued denials about a batch of videos allegedly featuring boarders going viral, speculation about one girl dying by suicide and several others attempting self-harm added to the storm on campus. The first year PG student of Chandigarh University at the epicentre of the controversy was arrested from the varsity campus while her boyfriend was taken into custody at his native village of Rohru in HP’s Shimla district. The varsity’s pro-chancellor said that the university is fully committed and competent to ensure the safety and security of all students.
