In the unfolding political saga in Jharkhand, Governor CP Radhakrishnan has extended an invitation to JMM leader Champai Soren to form the government, with Soren expected to take the oath as Jharkhand Chief Minister on February 2. However, the governor has imposed a challenge, asking Champai Soren to prove his majority within the next 10 days.This political turmoil gained momentum after the resignation of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, followed by his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Hemant Soren's exit triggered a crisis, leading Champai Soren to vie for the position of the next chief minister.Champai Soren, claiming support from 43 MLAs in the 81-member assembly, released a video emphasizing his numerical backing for the chief ministerial role. Despite the video evidence and letters of support, Governor Radhakrishnan initially refrained from extending an invitation to Champai Soren.The political landscape reveals a JMM-led alliance, including Congress and RJD, holding 47 MLAs, while the BJP has 25 members, and the AJSU party has three. Additionally, NCP and CPI (ML)L each have one member, along with three Independents.To safeguard against potential poaching and ensure stability, INDIA bloc MLAs were relocated to Hyderabad. Meanwhile, former CM Hemant Soren, currently in judicial custody, has approached the Supreme Court, alleging politically motivated arrest and interference by the central government. He claims that the ED's actions were orchestrated to topple his democratically elected government.In response, the Congress has raised questions about the delay in inviting Champai Soren, accusing it of contempt of the Constitution and denial of the public mandate. The Enforcement Directorate contends that 8.5 acres of land in Ranchi, comprising a dozen parcels, are under the "illegal possession, occupation, and use" of Hemant Soren.
