Assam, Kerala, Puducherry: Status quo or vote for change?

Description: Voters across Assam, Kerala and Puducherry voted in single-phase today to decide their new candidates. Assam has witnessing a largely direct contest between the BJP-led NDA and the Congress, with chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma seeking a third term and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi emerging as a key challenger. In Kerala, the election is framed as a contest between continuity and comeback, with CM Pinarayi Vijayan aiming for a third straight term, while the Congress-led UDF looks to regain power. Puducherry is seeing a multi-cornered contest, with the NDA up against the Congress-DMK alliance. Actor Vijay’s entry into politics has added a new dimension to the election, particularly in select constituencies. The counting of votes will take place on May 4.
