The 2026 Assam Assembly elections hinge on two critical constituencies—Jorhat and Jalukbari. While Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma seeks to maintain dominance in Jalukbari, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has intensified the contest in Jorhat, making it a prestige battle. Jalukbari remains a BJP stronghold with overwhelming past margins, while Jorhat has seen closely fought elections, including a narrow win in 2021.
