Celebrations begun in the hometown of Hima Das after the athlete won silver medal in 400m race at Asian Games 2018. It was first medal by a Indian woman athlete in 400m since Manjeet Kaur won a silver at Asian Games 2006 in Doha. Hima broke the national record twice in two days as she clocked 50.59 seconds to bag silver. A day ago, Hima qualified for the final race with a record time of 51.00 seconds. She broke the record of Manjeet Kaur (51.05 seconds) set by the athlete in Chennai in 2004.
