Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an honorary Lt Colonel in the Territorial Army, began his voluntary stint with the outfit on July 31 in J&K during which he'll undertake guard and patrolling duties. However, there have been other Test players also who have served in the armed forces in various capacities. CK Nayudu was honoured as a colonel in Holkar's army in pre-Independence India. Former cricketer Hemu Adhikari too had the rank of Lt Colonel.
