The Indian cricket captain has achieved yet another milestone. Captain Kohli has now become the first Indian to have 50 million followers on Instagram…yes you heard that right. Virat is slightly ahead of Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra who has 49.9 million followers while Deepika Padukone has 44.1 million followers. The Indian skipper has also been rated as India’s most valuable celebrity by a global advisory firm. The calculation was done based on the brand values derived from their endorsement contracts. The 31-year-old cricketer has held this position for the third year in a row. As per the report, Virat’s brand value went up by 39% to USD 237.5 million in 2019. Virat is ranked as the number one batsman in Tests and ODIs by the ICC in February 2020. He also became the first Indian batsman after the legendary Sunil Gavaskar to cross the 900-point mark in player rankings for Test batsmen. Kohli also became the fastest batsman to score 10,000 ODI runs. He reached the milestone in just 205 innings as compared to 259 innings taken by none other than Sachin Tendulkar. He was also the first ODI captain to hit six centuries in a year, he achieved the feat twice in 2017 and 2018. Captain Kohli is currently touring New Zealand with the Indian cricket team. India won the T20 series but lost the ODI series to the hosts. The two teams will now play two test matches beginning from February 21.
