World famous Dussehra's 'Deri Garai' celebrated with great fervor in Bastar

Famous Dussehra’s 'Deri Garai' is being celebrated in Bastar of Chhattisgarh with great fervor and zeal. The 75-days-long festival is known as Mahaparva (biggest festival) and hundreds of people gather here to perform the rituals. Goats and fishes are offered to lord in this festival, which is one of the biggest example of secularism as people of all castes and creed attend this festival. The main attraction of this festival is a Chariot made of wood by the tribesmen of the region. The Dussehra in Bastar is different from the way it is celebrated across the nation. It has nothing to do with Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after decimating Ravana. People of the state worship Lord Shakti. The festival has been celebrated in Chhatisgarh’s Bastar since 1408.
