Withdraw Ayush surgery notification: IMA to Centre
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged the Centre to withdraw its decision to allow post-graduate Ayurvedic doctors to perform surgeries. The IMA has called for a nationwide strike today against the government's decision. It has called for withdrawal of all non-essential and non-COVID services between 6 am and 6 pm today. The Centre last month had issued a notification which authorises post-graduate practitioners in specified streams of Ayurveda to be trained to perform surgical procedures such as excisions of benign tumours, amputation of gangrene, nasal and cataract surgeries.
