On the occasion of Bengali New Year, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose flagged off NCC Peace Walk Cycle Warriors and Heritage Walk on April 15. The flagging-off event was held in front of the Raj Bhavan. Raj Bhavan has opened the door for the common people to visit on Bengali New Year. West Bengal is celebrating Bengali New Year Poila Baisakh or Pohela Boishakh on April 15 this year. “Bengal has walked in the new dawn during this 'Nabo borsho'. The youth power has been unleashed and the youth will see that peace and harmony are established in society. Bengal will regain its glory,” said Governor CV Ananda Bose According to the Bengali calendar, Poila Baisakh is observed on the first day of the month of Baishakh. This festival marks the start of the new fiscal year for the community and hence is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur each year.
