BJP MLA Shiv Arora on February 6 in Dehradun, termed the tabling of the Uniform Civil Code Bill by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as ‘historic’. He mentioned that the UCC grants equal rights to people. Describing it as a happy moment, he pointed out that the framers of the Constitution envisaged the UCC for India in Article 44. He said that this Bill has put an end to appeasement politics. On the UCC Bill tabled in the Uttarakhand Assembly, Uttarakhand BJP MLA Shiv Arora said, "This is a historic moment for us... What can be a greater happiness than UCC? It gives equal rights to the people. CM Dhami introduced it today. We witnessed and took part in introducing it (UCC Bill). This is a happy moment. Framers of the Constitution envisaged UCC in the Article 44. This Bill brought justice to women; gave them the rights over property on par with men; put an end to the appeasement politics and Opposition to equal rights for all citizens."
