Uddhav Thackeray takes oath as Maharashtra chief minister

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray today takes oath as the Maharashtra chief minister. He is the first member of the Thackeray family to assume the chief minister's post. Uddhav Thackeray will hold his first Cabinet meeting at 8pm. The swearing-in ceremony took place at 6.40pm at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai. Top politicians including DMK chief MK Stalin, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, MP CM Kamal Nath, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and others came to witness the oath-taking ceremony. Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were absent in the event.
