This day in 2013, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Mars Orbiter Mission from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. ISRO used PSLV-C25 to launch its maiden interplanetary mission Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) that reached Martian orbit on September 24, 2014. By doing so, ISRO became the fourth space agency to reach Mars. The primary objective of the mission was to develop the technologies required for designing, planning, management and operations of an interplanetary mission.
