Tirath Singh Rawat takes oath as Uttarakhand chief minister

Tirath Singh Rawat took oath as the chief minister of Uttarakhand on March 10. He was administered oath of the office by Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya. On March 9, Trivendra Singh Rawat stepped down as Uttarakhand chief minister. Accompanied by BJP MLAs and MPs, Tirath Singh Rawat met Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya at Raj Bhawan to stake his claim to form the government. Tirath Singh Rawat was the state BJP president from 2013-15 and is currently the party's national secretary. BJP has 56 MLAs in the 70-member Uttarakhand assembly.
