Newly-formed Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) started exporting two consignments of lotus stems locally known as ‘Nadru’ and other vegetables to United Arab Emirates through Lulu Group. The purpose of the initiative is to uplift the farmer community of Dal Lake and increase their income with the government supply. Producers are also fetching a good price from this exporting process. It is a historical and developmental step which is helping farmers, especially those who produce vegetables like lotus stem and others in Dal Lake. Dal Lake is also a world-famous lake and it attracts lakhs of tourists every year from across the world. Apart from this, this lake generates employment for various families who deal with vegetable cultivation especially traditional vegetable products like lotus stem. But unfortunately despite their hard work, farmers are not getting proper benefits. After this developmental step, farmers are very happy and appreciated the government. They hoped that government will continue this process so that they will get a number of benefits.
