Sri Lankan President Thanks India, EAM Jaishankar After Receiving 38,000 MT Petroleum Shipment
Sri Lanka has thanked India for extending emergency fuel assistance of 38,000 metric tonnes as the island nation grapples with supply disruptions linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the timely support, noting that the shipment—comprising diesel and petrol—arrived in Colombo on March 29 via Lanka IOC. He also acknowledged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for close coordination. The aid follows recent discussions between the two leaders and comes amid a wider global fuel strain. The Indian High Commission highlighted that this support underscores India’s commitment to assisting neighbouring countries during times of crisis.
