Specially-abled man Velmurugan usually makes earthen lamps for Karthik Festival

Diyamaker Velmurugan from Vilangudi who lost his right hand in an accident is making earthen lamps for Karthik Festival. During Karthik Festival, more than 50 families get involved in making earthen lamps from generations in Madurai. Velmurugan added, “The earthenware industry has been hit hard by heavy rains over the past few days. 15 thousand worth of lamps were wasted in the rain. I have been looking at this business with no other option. Currently, the lamp making is in order but I could not make the lamps earlier due to rain Our industry has been hit hard by the rains so we need to provide relief."
