Mother Teresa was the nun who established the Order of the Missionaries of Charity. Missionaries of Charity is a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. Considered one of the 20th Century's greatest humanitarians, she was canonised as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016. Mother Teresa was born on August 26 in 1910, and was baptised the following day as Agnes Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. Relevantly, when Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, she refused the traditional Nobel honor banquet and requested that the $192,000 budget be allocated to help the poor in India.
