Proving it a milestone, ASI has reportedly discovered India’s oldest fortified city in Gujarat’s Vadnagar. In a recent excavation, ASI unearthed PM Modi’s paternal hometown Vadnager which dates back to 2,800 years or 800 BCE. The study suggests that the scientists dug up to 20 meters deep from 2016-2023 and unraveled a very old Buddhist Monastery and 7 cultural layers. However, Dr Anindya Sarkar also said that the age of civilization could be more than 3,500 years old which he claimed to be close to the end of the Indus Valley Civilisation. Dr Sarkar further called the Western Historian’s ‘Dark Age’ claim, a myth and claimed Vadnagar to be a living city. With this, it was concluded that Vadnagar was the only fortified city unearthed.
