SP Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh Soumya Sambasivan talked about the new suicide prevention helpline number,155326 in the district. From the crime statistics, it was seen that in 2023 only, 90 suicides have already taken place. After extensive research, relationship issues, family disputes & depression were determined to be among the main reason for suicide. Also, more males are committing suicides than females and age group is 20-40 when a person finds a job and settles. Our efforts will be there to help even a few of them. There is a backend team which'll attend the phone calls and the caller will be provided immediate counselling and the number will be directed to the nearest police station for rescues. Discussions with psychiatrists have also been done for quick assistance if needed.
