Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora has been sent to seven days of Enforcement Directorate remand in an ongoing Prevention of Money Laundering Act case. His lawyer alleged that the ED action was politically motivated and claimed no proper investigation was conducted before the arrest. According to the defence, the agency registered the case on May 5 and arrested the minister on May 9.The lawyer further claimed that the ED directly arrested Arora during the search operation and that the FIR has not yet been provided to the defence. While the ED sought a 10-day remand, the court granted seven days. The matter is scheduled to come up again on May 16 in Gurgaon.Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing it of corruption and playing the “victim card” whenever investigative agencies take action. The arrest has now sparked a fresh political confrontation between the BJP and AAP.
