PoK Unrest Deepens: Protesters Allege Crackdown, Casualties And Blackout

Violent clashes between security forces and protesters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have resulted in at least 30 deaths, according to official figures, including seven civilians and four police personnel. More than 70 people have reportedly been injured, while authorities have detained over 70 individuals, including members of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).However, protest leaders dispute the official numbers, claiming that as many as 30 protesters have been killed and over 200 injured during what they describe as a military crackdown. The unrest has triggered allegations of excessive force, arbitrary detentions and restrictions on communications in several parts of the region.The violence has also sparked demonstrations by Kashmiri diaspora groups in the United Kingdom, where protesters have called for international scrutiny and independent investigations into the reported incidents. Activists argue that the true scale of casualties and alleged assaults may be higher, citing communication restrictions and limited access to affected areas.As competing claims emerge, demands are growing for transparent and impartial inquiries to establish the facts surrounding the escalating crisis in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
