Punjab launches a massive ‘Operation Prahar’ to crush organised crime across the state. Over 12,000 police officers are conducting raids at nearly 2,000 locations tied to associates of 60 foreign-based gangsters, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said. The Chief Minister is personally monitoring the operation, ensuring a zero-tolerance approach. A special cell under IG Ashish Chaudhry has been formed to track gangsters outside the state. The crackdown targets criminal financing, while an anti-gangster helpline has been launched for public assistance. Punjab government has also sanctioned Rs 10 crore in rewards to aid the operation. This unprecedented drive sends a strong message: gangsters will not be tolerated in Punjab.
