Police organised the marriage of surrendered Maoists in Nuapada. The initiative of the Odisha Police has helped many left-wing extremists shun the violence and join the mainstream. Maoists Rahul Musaki (groom) and Dalmati Kamar (bride) became life partners in a colourful Hindu wedding ceremony. Rahul alias Pintu of Sukma in Chhattisgarh and Dalmati alias Madhuri of Kundenijharia in Nuapada district had surrendered before the police. While Rahul surrendered in 2018 before Kandhamal police, Dalmati surrendered in 2021.
