The Odisha Economic Offence Wing arrested one person involved in an online Ponzi scam of worth Rs 144 crore, informed Bhubaneswar IG of Economic Offence Wing JN Pankaj on April 02. He further informed that the mastermind is yet to be arrested, meanwhile, 1000s of Indians were duped in the matter. The fake company was claiming to be a crypto mining firm that was supposed to give high interest rates to its clients after the investment. “EOW Odisha was on a case over online Ponzi. Company claimed that they were into crypto mining. They said that if people invest in their company, a high-interest rate will be given to them. They are actually running a Ponzi scheme, multilevel marketing scheme. 1000s across India invested and the company earned more than 144 crore. They closed their website and ran away with the money after a few months. One person has been arrested from Pune. The person was close to mastermind of the scheme,” JN Pankaj said.
