Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case: SC confirms death for convicts
The Supreme Court dismissed the pleas filed by three out of the four convicts who were sentenced to death in the sensational December 16, 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case in the national capital. The SC bench led by chief justice Dipak Misra rejected the pleas filed by Mukesh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma, saying there were no grounds for a review of its 2017 verdict. Akshay Kumar, the fourth death row convict had not filed a review petition against the apex court's judgment of last year in which the it had upheld the capital punishment awarded to four convicts by the Delhi high court and the trial court earlier.
