New England after experiencing heavy rainfall and flooding now bracing for Hurricane Lee

Parts of New England, already saturated with rain, are bracing for Hurricane Lee, which is barreling north toward the region. Massachusetts and Rhode Island residents are cleaning up flood damage while preparing for the incoming hurricane. The National Weather Service is investigating reports of strong winds and downed trees and power lines in Rhode Island and Connecticut but hasn't confirmed if they were tornadoes. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey declared a state of emergency due to the "catastrophic flash flooding." The region's infrastructure has been significantly impacted, with estimates for restoration projects ranging from $25 million to $40 million in Leominster alone.
