Amid rising inflation across country, Women Congress workers on June 30 carried out a protest march in MP’s Bhopal. The workers during the protest raised placards and slogans against the Central and State Governments. They also wore garlands of tomatoes and green chillies to taunt the government. Speaking on the same, one of the demonstrators said, “Women are upset with the price rises, be it vegetable oil, vegetables or price of sugar. The price of Gas cylinders has already been increased to Rs, 1,130. Women are tense that how would they manage their kitchen. The chief minister thinks that he has created a vote bank by giving Rs 1,000 to them. We, women, will answer them in the 2023 Legislative Assembly Polls.” Notably, there has been a major surge in the price of tomatoes for the last few days. The tomato prices in the state are hopping around Rs 100 per Kg. Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh informed that prices will drop by the next month. He argued that variation in the production times of tomatoes all over India is the reason behind its price rise.
