Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticized the Central government on October 30, citing the recent Andhra Pradesh train collision as evidence of negligence in ensuring the safety and security of the railways. He pointed out that despite the government's focus on promoting Vande Bharat trains, the frequent train derailments and accidents across the country continue to disrupt the lives of ordinary citizens. The collision in Andhra Pradesh, which resulted in 13 fatalities and numerous injuries, was the latest in a series of accidents that have occurred in a span of just five months, highlighting the pressing need for improved rail safety measures.
