Massive Flight Cancellations Hit India As Iran War Disrupts West Asia Airspace
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced widespread cancellations of domestic flights, with over 410 flights cancelled on Saturday and around 444 expected on Sunday due to airspace restrictions over Iran and parts of the Middle East. The ministry emphasized that the DGCA is closely coordinating with airlines and airports to ensure safety, operational compliance, and minimal passenger disruption. Major airports remain on operational alert to handle diversions, crowd management, and passenger assistance. The PACR and AirSewa grievance systems are actively supporting travellers, with hundreds of complaints addressed promptly. These disruptions come amid rising tensions in West Asia following US-Israel strikes on Iran and retaliatory actions by Tehran. Airspace restrictions and NOTAMs issued by several countries are affecting both domestic and international flight operations across the region.
